Beginning March 18, North Carolina Department of Transportation ferry customers coming to Hatteras Island via to southern route through the Cedar Island or Swan Quarter ferries to Ocracoke Island will have the convenience of ordering advanced tickets for toll ferries online. All Hatteras Island and Dare County property owners are affected by the impending changes to the Beach Plan, and as such, the local and statewide communities have been carefully watching the developments in the fight against the Beach Plan changes.

Summer is just around the corner, but cold tolerant locals and visitors have a chance to enjoy a dip in the ocean well before the temperatures heat up.
Local non-profit organization Locomotion, the Cape Hatteras Teen Association, will be hosting its Second Annual Seal Swim on Saturday, March 7, starting at 10 a.m. on the oceanfront behind the Outer Banks Motel on Highway 12 in Buxton. The fundraising event is open to everyone in the community, and both young people and adults can sign up to take the frigid dip in the ocean. Continue reading
