OBX Events July 28-August 5

Activities and entertainment await you here on the OBX! There are many exciting events to keep you and your party entertained all week long! There is truly something for everyone! Be sure to check out our list for the week and mark your calendars!

SATURDAY, JULY 28

Fish Fry, Hatteras Village and Avon Village, 5-7pm.
~Does fried local fish, hushpuppies, cole slaw, and potato salad sound like the perfect Hatteras Island dinner? We think so! Head to the Hatteras Fire Station at 57689 Hwy 12 or the Avon Fire Station at 40159 Harbor Rd. for a delicious meal, hosted by the Ladies Auxilary.

June 2-8 Triple S Invitational, Waves, REAL Watersports.
~Be a spectator as the pros compete for the most sought after victory on the professional kiteboarding circuit! Fly Into Spring & Easter Eggstravaganza April 2nd April 3rd

Kitty Hawk Kites is kicking off its spring season the with annual “Fly Into Spring and Easter Eggstravaganza” event.

This annual spring event will be held during National Kite Month, April 2nd and 3rd, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Jockey’s Ridge State Park, home to the largest living sand dune on the east coast, will host the kite festival, and the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head will host the Easter Egg Hunt. With fresh spring air and the famous Outer Banks wind, participants won’t want to miss this fun outdoor event. Continue reading

Attention Kids! Grab a kite and fly during Kids Kite Day in Hatteras Village!

Kitty Hawk Kites will be hosting a kite day for kids of all ages on July 23, 2009 at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Hatteras Landing, Hatteras Village. The event is free and open to visitors and locals alike, and the fun begins at 10:00 a.m., and lasts until 4:00 p.m..

The Hatteras Kids Kite Day offers a wide range of entertaining activities for everyone who attends. Kids and their families will enjoy free kite making throughout the event. Children can also color and decorate their own personal kite, and learn to fly it with the help of Kitty Hawk Kites’ professional staff. Continue reading

Kitty Hawk Kites Hosts Kiteboarding Competition

The annual Kitty Hawk Kites “Kite Jam,” a kiteboarding competition, is scheduled for June 27-28, 2009, at the Kitty Hawk Kites Kiteboarding Resort in Waves, NC.

This two day event, held each day from 10AM-5PM, features some of the best kiteboarders in the world, including team riders for Eclipse and Cabrinha. Representatives from these two companies, as well as HQ Kites, will be on site to show off the latest kiteboarding gear and power kites. Kayaking Adventures on Hatteras Island

The Outer Banks is known for its wild landscape and miles of water, so it’s no surprise that kayaking enthusiasts love heading to Hatteras Island for some of the best paddling in North Carolina. Whether you’re taking a guided sunset tour through the Pamlico Sound, or attacking the Atlantic waves in an ocean kayak, there are plenty of kayaking rentals and tour companies, and beautiful saltwater locales to get you paddle wet. Pirate Week on The Outer Banks September 15-20

Kick off your fall vacation with the annual Pirate Festival hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites in Nags Head. This week-long event begins on Monday, September 15th, with community events happening all week all over the Outer Banks.
Enjoy Pirate history, storytelling, reenactments, and shows. The culmination of a fun filled week of events will be on Saturday September 20th at the Kitty Hawk Kites Store, MP 12.5, Nags Head. From kayaking to kiteboarding, the island was made for those who just can’t stay out of the wind or water. It’s no wonder that thousands of people flock to the island from all over the world for its exceptional weather and water conditions, both on and off the beaches.
New to the island sporting scene? Then pick a sport, grab some gear, and get ready for a little exercise.
