Hatteras Island Arts & Crafts Guild will have an arts and crafts show on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Cape Hatteras Secondary School on Highway 12 in Buxton.
This is an annual event to help locals and visitors alike get a jump start on their Christmas shopping island style. The show will feature work by dozens of renowned local artists, artisans, photographers, and craftsmen. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to stop by and browse the array of works, or purchase some island inspired art and crafts to take home. Lunch and snacks will be available for a small fee. Hatteras Island photographer Daniel Pullen will open a joint art show with Stephanie Kiker on Oct. 3 at Roanoke Island Festival Park in the Art Gallery. Pullen’s photography is featured in Surf or Sound Realty’s website and vacation home catalog, and he works with Surf or Sound rental guests on family portraits and special event photo sessions. Linda Meyer Browning, award-winning watercolorist, photographer, and painting instructor, will be conducting a watercolor workshop for adults on Saturday, Sept. 12, and again on Monday, Sept. 14.
“Watercolor for Beginners” will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will be held at Linda’s studio in Frisco on Hatteras Island.
On Thursday, June 4, the Indiantown Gallery will feature a Sea Glass Truck Show from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring authentic gift items, jewelry, and pieces by artists Pem Bryant, has over 300 pieces of LOCAL sea glass that he has made into jewelry and gift items. Continue reading
SeaWorthy Gallery in Hatteras village will sponsor a three-day “Plein Air” outdoor painting workshop on May 19-21 from 9 until 4 p.m. each day. The workshop will focus on marshes, boats, beaches, cottages, and other coastal scenes. All media is welcome, but the demonstrations will be done in watercolor. Class size is limited, so the instructor can give personal attention to each student. A brief critique will conclude each painting day. Continue reading
